Greenwood Elementary Students Step Into 'Candyland' for Sneaker Ball

BESSEMER, Ala. — Third through fifth graders at Greenwood Elementary turned their school into a sugary spectacle for the "Candyland" Sneaker Ball.

The themed event encouraged students to ditch traditional formal shoes in favor of their most colorful and creative sneakers. The gym was transformed with vibrant decorations inspired by the classic board game, providing a festive backdrop for an evening of music and dancing.

The Sneaker Ball has become a popular tradition in the district, allowing students to express their personal style while celebrating the end of the semester. By combining high-fashion "fits" with athletic footwear, the event emphasizes school spirit and community building in a relaxed, joyful atmosphere.

Faculty and staff worked to create an immersive experience that celebrated the students' hard work throughout the first half of the school year. The "Candyland" theme added an extra layer of sweetness to the holiday celebration, leaving students with lasting memories as they headed into the winter break.
